Drinking green tea for weight loss is a simple and natural weight loss aid. It can be drunk like any other herbal tea and is very popular with people who want to lose weight naturally. You can include a slice of lemon with your drink and is usually enjoyed without any milk or sweeteners.

It is important to understand that products that can help you lose weight must be used in conjunction with a healthy eating plan and an exercise program. To lose weight, you must either exercise more or eat less. Nothing can help you shed those unwanted pounds if you eat more fats and sugars in your diet and become less active.

How does it work?

Products that help you to reduce weight work by either lowering your appetite or by increasing the rate by which you burn calories. Obviously if your appetite is reduced you will eat less and if your metabolic rate is increased you’ll burn more calories. Your metabolic rate is the rate at which the body burns up calories or fat.

Green tea is considered to help you to burn more calories by increasing your metabolic rate. It does this by stimulating the body’s thermogenesis process, which is the process where your body raises its temperature, or energy output.

It works a little like the drug ephidrine which is commonly used as an appetite suppressant, concentration aid or decongestant. But this drink is not considered to have the same risks for heart health as ephidrine. Nevertheless, you should seek advice from a doctor before using this product as a slimming aid, especially if you have heart problems or other heath issues.

Does It Work?

In theory, green tea can help you to lose weight if you don’t change your diet. But, in real terms, the effect would be very slow. Also if you are not watching what eat, you may eat more to make up for the energy that is burned. Therefore, it is important to control your diet and make sure that you are not consuming more calories.

A good way to use that extra energy is to start a new exercise regime. You can drop your weight with regular exercise in two ways: first when you exercise you’ll burn calories, and second by increasing your metabolic rate calories will be burned even when your body is at rest.

When Is The Best Time To Drink Green Tea?

The best time to drink green tea is around half an hour to hour before a meal. It does contain caffeine so if you don’t usually drink regular tea or coffee it is best to avoid the tea after midday so that it does not affect your sleep. If you do drink regular tea or coffee it would be worth cutting down or substituting it for green tea. There is a decaffeinated version available but studies suggest that when the caffeine is removed, it also removes the the fat-burning catechin
so using decaffeinated green tea for weight loss is not so effective.
